It's beef stew time
It's flippin' freezin' here in our little corner of Bretagne. Minus figures every night means the bedrooms are never more than 8-10°C at night. So tonight we are having a slightly spicy pork curry before we trot off to Hilary's Music Night at Tranquility in Pontivy. Tomorrow features a lovely and warming beef stew. I have a new recipe for the beef stew I have never tried before and I'll post the recipe in the next few days if it turns out, otherwise we'll just forget it, eh?
Microwavable wheat/rice bags in all the beds means we go to sleep warm. The paraffin heater in the living room is a Godsend, by the way.

Bit parky, innit?
It's more than rather cold here in Brittany today. The Météo called for snow, my eldest was most indignant when we awoke to clear blue skies this morning.
"Where is the snow? Mummy we need to wear extra warm clothes today because it is going to snow, a lot..."
"No sweetie, no snow today, we don't have the right conditions for snow."
"Mummy, the Météo said we would have snow today and so we will and besides, they know better than you..."
(Oho... cheeky-child alert...)
So we had a discussion about predictions and clouds and moisture and by the end, she saw that we would not indeed have snow today. Plus I pulled the 'I-lived-in-6-months-of-annual-snow-Vermont' Trump card. Mummy knows snow, dear.
"Ok, Mummy... but tomorrow...."
(Sigh... only 6 more days until rentrée....)

Happy Christmas
... to one and all.
It's Champagne and Oysters for us this afternoon... as soon as we pick up a bottle of butane from here in Plouguernével. Seems the other one at my apartment decided to give out... after a grand total of one hour 45 minutes of turkey cooking this afternoon. So I have a rather naked and raw looking bird sitting in my oven in Kleg right now...
Never mind. It just means Christmas dinner will be a little later tonight. Dinner at eight, I think.
Hope your Christmas was merry, however you decided to celebrate.
Happy Hannukah as well.
My wish for all is peace and understanding. Have a lovely holiday.
Kisses from Kitty.

Language skills
My children have now reached a milestone in their language acquisition... they can now quibble fluently in both English and French.
They can also call each other names in Breton.....
David Frost was right when he maintained that when your first child is born, you become a parent. With the second, you turn into a referee.
